The winner of ‘Armenia’s Prime Minister's Cup’ amateur cross-country race tournament is Yervand Mkrtchyan.
The runner covered the distance of 10 km in about 30 minutes, according to Armenia’s Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
“It was a great opportunity to show yourself and other athletes that you can overcome the task at hand. I covered 10 km very well,” says Yervand Mkrtchyan.
Yervand is from Gyumri, and according to him, it is more difficult to run in Gyumri, because it is higher than the sea level, and Yerevan is lower, and the distance was smoother.
“I cannot say that I had no equal. I know many people here, they are all my friends and they all ran very well. I had no experience of running 10 km; I participated in the Yerevan half marathon 5 times and became a champion 5 times. I miss such tournaments a lot. This will contribute to the development of athletics in our country, as athletics is the queen of sports,” Yervand Mkrtchyan said.
