Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Tanju Bilgiç, answered the questions of the journalists about the agenda at the press briefing, Livik reports.
Referring to the F-35 program, Bilgiç reminded that our departure was a step that dealt a significant blow not only to Turkey but also to NATO’s deterrence.
Bilgiç said, “For us, the options are actually simple. We will either return to this program, or they will either buy us the future planes or they will refund our money. In this context, the use of the approximately 1.4 billion dollars we paid for the F-35 for the F-16 modernization is on the agenda as an option. We are discussing this with our American stakeholders and we will act according to the outcome of this,” he said.
Bilgic noted that Turkey’s expectation from the United States in the negotiations is the effective management of relations, the solution of problems and the “positive response” of the USA.
