Within the International Customs Forum held on October 21-22 in Moscow, a meeting took place between Rustam Badasyan, the Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia and Kunio Mikuriya, the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization.
During the meeting, the participants stressed the importance of exchange of experience on international platforms, namely KUDO and Click platforms and emphasized the necessity of the process of organization of trainings aimed at development of customs servants’ skills and knowledge in the context of current tendencies in the development of customs sector. The parties discussed also the implementation of technical assistance programs as part of reforms expected in customs sector.
Issues regarding organization of activity with customs administrations of all 57 member states within WCO’s Mercator Programme, remote activities to be organized for Armenia’s customs administration in future on the subject of smart risk management and customs control in airports were also discussed.
Chairman of SRC Rustam Badasyan reconfirmed committee’s willingness to hold the next IT conference in Armenia.
It bears mentioning that Armenia has been a member of WCO since 1992. Armenia periodically receives consulting support within WCO’s Mercator Programme, which is aimed at promoting fulfillment of provisions of WCO’s Trade Facilitation Agreement. The SRC has been a member of WCO’s Audit Committee since 2018.
