On October 22, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan received the delegation led by Gilles Carbonnier, the vice-President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
Valuing the works implemented by ICRC, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the significance of the organization as a neutral, impartial structure, which implements activities since 1992 in both Armenia and Artsakh.
Armenian Foreign Minister stressed the readiness of the Armenian side to continue the support on implementing the ICRC mission in Armenia and Artsakh according to the three-decade-old work schedule.
The necessity of the activity of ICRC as the only international structure present in Artsakh currently was valued during the meeting, in the context of providing assistance to the affected population because of the Azerbaijani aggression.
Minister Mirzoyan stressed that the issue of the immediate return of the captives of war and other hostages continues to be the priority issue.
Violating the Geneva Convention and the requirements of the November 9, 2020 announcement, Azerbaijan continues creating artificial obstacles of returning the captives.
Ararat Mirzoyan also mentioned that despite the presented proof of the Armenian side, Azerbaijan hides the real number and storage locations of captives, which creates serious basis to assume that there is a situation of forced disappearances.
The ICRC delegation expressed readiness to support Armenian authorities to overcome the humanitarian post-war issues.
