Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan stated that Yerevan and Moscow have agreed on the price of natural gas supplied to Armenia.
"Gas price negotiations are an ongoing process. We have agreed on the price of gas at the border and in the territory of Armenia. Negotiations have been going on since 2019, we have had quite comprehensive discussions and we have reached an agreement on a number of issues,” Grigoryan said.
According to him, one of the main issues on which the parties have not yet agreed is the Hrazdan Thermal Power Plant (TPP).
"This is the situation with the fifth power unit of Hrazdan TPP, which belongs to ‘Gazprom’, is not working now. We would like the fifth power unit to become a part of the country’s energy system. However, under the agreement with ‘Gazprom’, all the company’s investments must have a 9% profitability. The construction of the station is a very serious investment, but it does not guarantee profitability. This is the essence of the problem, so the issue is still on the agenda,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
According to Grigoryan, the solution of this issue will give an opportunity to significantly stabilize the situation with the gas price in the country.
