The Indian side announced two major transport initiatives at the time. It is about the Persian Gulf-Black Sea transport corridor and the North-South transport corridor.
Have you discussed these two major projects? During the press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, in response to the question of ‘Lurer’, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan answered.
“We, of course, referred to the issue of infrastructure in the big region. This also refers to the North-South corridor. We discussed the recent positive developments around the port of Chabahar, the establishment of direct communication on the Indian-Armenian road, as well as the issue of further transit transfers from Armenia to the north, through Georgia to Russia, and perhaps through the Black Sea to Europe. This is an important component of our agenda. As for the Persian Gulf-Black Sea initiative, we discussed this issue with the Iranian side yesterday. In terms of this agreement, the events are developing quite dynamically, too. I hope we will even have a signed agreement on that document in the near future.”
Speaking about the cooperation, Indian Foreign Minister Subramanyam Jaishankar added that he had discussed issues related to the use of Chabahar port with the Armenian Foreign Minister.
“We suggested that Chabahar can be used as a hub for international transport corridors. We can also consider any other initiative that reflects the interests of our two countries. We also discussed the possibility of mutual flights,” said the Indian Foreign Minister.
