Experts again started talking about an increase in cases of coronavirus among teenagers and they connect this with the beginning of the educational process in classrooms and preschool institutions.
“After the opening of schools and kindergartens, the cases among teenagers have increased. The clinic is now full. We try to leave free beds as much as possible,” said David Rekhviashvili, director of the Tsitsishvili Children's Clinic, on Imedi TV.
Tsitsishvili’s clinic currently treats about 150 patients - these are teenagers and their parents. At the same time, 23 young patients are in the intensive care unit.
In Tbilisi, 55 kindergartens were closed for 12 days due to the coronavirus. Seven schools and 90 separate classes have switched to distance learning.
A difficult epidemiological situation is also observed in the Kakheti region. Due to the spread of coronavirus, seven state schools switched to distance learning, 39 kindergartens and five more groups were closed. Of these, 11 classes and 15 kindergartens are in the city of Telavi.
The regional office of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health says the vaccination rate in Kakheti has dropped sharply.
In Tbilisi, over the past day, 465 new cases of coronavirus were detected, and in Kakheti - 294.
In kindergartens, the educational process began on October 4. Schools began their studies online on September 15, and from October 4, parents of students could choose between distance learning and classroom learning.
