This year, for the first time, Armenia is represented in two nominations at the prestigious World Travel Awards 2021. First of all, Armenia is appreciated for its cultural heritage; and besides, ‘Tatever’ ropeway is presented among other similar ropeways.
“This is very good news for Armenia, as the World Travel Award is a well-known award. It is an additional opportunity for Armenia to become known to the world, to become known to different countries, and to discover new markets,” says Gayane Ayvazyan, Tourism's Public Relations and Digital Marketing Expert.
The awards ceremony is open for voting, you must visit the website and vote for the preferred nominations. The data will be summed up after October 24. The award ceremony is scheduled for November in Moscow.
“Back in June, the Tourism and Urban Development Foundation invited the representatives of the awards, the leaders, to Armenia for the first time to get acquainted with Armenia's opportunities, potential, and even a cooperation agreement was signed, which of course helped Armenia to be included in these nominations this year,” says Gayane Ayvazyan.
The Committee on Tourism assures that many other measures are being taken to make our country more recognizable. The sitting of the CIS Tourism Council took place in Armenia recently. Representatives of some of the participating states were here, while others participated in the meeting via video call.
“The decision to hold this year's sitting in Armenia was made in 2019, within the framework of the previous sitting held in Uzbekistan, and in November of last year the chairmanship of the council was passed to Armenia,” says Sona Hovhannisyan, Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Tourism Committee.
The potential of Armenian tourism was presented, agreements were reached to expand the scope of cooperation.
