On October 8, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan received Patrick Swenson, the Ambassador of Sweden to Armenia.
The interlocutors highly valued the positive dynamics of the Armenian-Swedish relationships in bilateral and multilateral gauges, stressing the importance of activating visits in different levels and expanding the cooperation in the spheres of mutual interest.
Minister Mirzoyan expressed his satisfaction to the Swedish side for the continuous support to the reforms implemented by the Armenian Parliament, which contributes to the strengthening of the Armenian democratic institutions, the human rights and the rule of law. The strengthening of the cooperative development between Armenia and Sweden and the implemented programs by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) were also valued.
Referring to the regional security issues, Ararat Mirzoyan stressed the necessity of the long-lasting and comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict under the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.
In the context of addressing humanitarian issues as a result of the Azeri-Turkish aggression, Mirzoyan especially emphasized the importance of the immediate and unconditional repatriation of the Armenian captives of war and the civilian hostages, as well as the importance of preserving the Armenian historical-cultural and religious heritage under Azerbaijani control.
