The state visit of Armenia’s President Armen Sarkissian to the Republic of Italy has started. For the first time in the history of independent Armenia, the Italian Republic received the Armenian delegation headed by President Armen Sarkissian on a state visit.
As ‘Lurer’ correspondent reports, Armen Sarkissian was greeted by his Italian counterparts in Rome accompanied by a military band of honor guard and units of the armed forces.
Many meetings and events are planned today and tomorrow to deepen the Armenian-Italian relations. After the meeting with the President of Italy Sergio Matarella, Armen Sarkissian will take part in the Quirinale Palace to show the works of great Armenian painters Hovhannes Aivazovsky, Gevorg Bashinjaghyan, Martiros Saryan, Vardges Surenyants, Hakob Kojoyan, and then the presidents will make statements for the media.
A meeting with the Armenian community is planned in ‘Levonyan’ college.
The Minister of Justice Karen Andreasyan and the Chairman of the Central Bank Martin Galstyan are also in Italy on a state visit with Armenia’s President.
