On October 4, Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vahe Gevorgyan delivered a speech at the 72nd session of the Executive Committee of the UN High Commissioner’s Programme.
In his speech, the Deputy Foreign Minister referred to the humanitarian consequences of the war unleashed by Azerbaijan on September 27 against Nagorno-Karabakh, emphasizing that more than 91,000 people were displaced as a result of the war, 88% of whom were women and children.
He noted that the Armenian side considers the obstruction of the provision of humanitarian aid in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) unacceptable, and expects the active support of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in resolving the problems of forcibly displaced persons.
Vahe Gevorgyan assured that Armenia is committed to the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which will address the issue of return of all Armenians to their former places of residence in Nagorno-Karabakh, and expressed confidence that humanitarian aid to the people of Artsakh must be provided regardless of all circumstances.
