On September 14, the 76th session of the UN General Assembly kicks off in New York. Last year, due to restrictions because of the coronavirus pandemic, it was held online.
This year, the heads of 83 countries, 43 heads of governments, as well as the foreign ministers of 23 countries are expected to arrive in New York. The representative of the Maldives will chair the General Assembly.
The key topic of the session will be the situation in Afghanistan, including the escalating humanitarian crisis.
