During a working trip to the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit the main stage of the West-2021 (Zapad-2021) joint exercises between Russia and Belarus at the Mulino training ground. This was reported by the Kremlin press service, TASS reports.
“On September 13, Russian President V. V. Putin will make a working trip to the Nizhny Novgorod region, where the main stage of the joint strategic exercise of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus West-2021 will take place at the Mulino training ground,” the statement says.
According to the press service, during the main stage, military formations of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, in cooperation with the military contingents of the Armed Forces of Armenia, Belarus, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia, will work out joint actions to repel an enemy offensive, conduct a mobile defense, deliver a concentrated fire strike and the defeat of the wedged-in grouping of the conditional enemy.
The joint strategic exercises of the Russian Federation and Belarus “West-2021” are held on September 10-16 at the military training grounds of Belarus and Russia.
About 200 thousand people, over 80 aircraft and helicopters, up to 760 units of military equipment will take part in them.
The scenario of the exercise presupposes a response to the aggravation of the international situation and possible aggression against the Union State.
The Russian and Belarusian sides have repeatedly stated about the defensive nature of the upcoming maneuvers.
Kremlin revealed the details of Putin’s visit to Belarus: Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to visit Belarus in October to participate in the CIS summit, press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that he and Putin agreed on his visit to Minsk in October for the CIS summit.
