A video of President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan hitting a child on the head has been widely reported in the Turkish press. The incident took place during the official opening ceremony of the underpass in Rize, which was also attended by Erdogan, Ermenihaber reports.
The event was also attended by a group of children who stood with Erdogan at the holiday ribbon with scissors in their hands to solemnly cut the ribbon together. However, one of the children, tired of long speeches and dialogues, could not wait any longer, cut the ribbon without waiting for Erdogan's order. The President of Turkey could not control his anger and "knocked" the child several times on the head with his fist.
Later, probably realizing that the moment did not escape the attention of the cameramen, Erdogan "warmly" put his hand on the same child's head. The pro-government press actively covered that part.
The incident caused a stir in the Turkish press, not only because of the open aggression against the child. The President, who participated in the opening ceremony for the first time, was deprived of the opportunity to be the first to cut the holiday ribbon.
