On September 9, at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) to the Republic of Armenia, Artsakh Ombudsman Gegham Stepanyan and Permanent Representative of Artsakh to Armenia Sergey Ghazaryan met with representatives of a number of non-governmental organizations (NGO) established by the Artsakh people forcibly displaced by the 44-day war.
The participants discussed the status of the displaced, their social and legal concerns and a number of issues related to the solution of the problems.
The Ombudsman noted that NGOs have a great role and importance not only in civil control over state bodies, but also in relations with the international community on human rights issues.
The representatives of the NGOs presented to the Ombudsman the needs assessed by them, the problems registered in the field of human rights protection related to the displaced people of Artsakh. At the end of the meeting, the directions of joint work were discussed.
