At the beginning of the Government session, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan touched upon the issue of reopening regional communications.
Pashinyan informed that the issue is being discussed on the Armenia-Russia-Azerbaijan trilateral format.
“After being reappointed as Prime Minister, I managed to visit Iran, and today I am leaving for Georgia. The development of regional communications plays a significant role in the agenda of our discussions with both Iran and Georgia.
In this context, I highlight the North-South project, which connects our border with Iran to our border with Georgia. It is very important for us to establish a railway connection with Russia and Iran, too. To solve this problem, by an Armenia-Russia-Azerbaijan trilateral format we are discussing the issue of reopening the communications.
Here we are determined to make efforts to achieve concrete results, realizing, of course, that Azerbaijan, in its turn, expects to receive communication between its western regions and Nakhichevan,” Pashinyan said.
Pashinyan stressed that Armenia is ready to resume the peace process within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing with Azerbaijan.
The Prime Minister said that he highlights the agenda of demarcation and delimitation on the border with Azerbaijan.
“We continue to work to create the necessary conditions for that,” Nikol Pashinyan said.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that the process of returning the captives, hostages and other detainees to Armenia will be completed soon.
