On September 7, Armenia’s Minister of High-Tech Industry Vahagn Khachaturyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Armenia Nicolaas Schermers.
The Minister greeted the Ambassador, presented the main functions of the Ministry, referred to Armenia's achievements in the technological sphere, the current challenges, and the efforts of Armenia’s Government aimed at putting the economy on a high technological basis.
Taking into account the exemplary experience of the Netherlands in a number of areas of high technology, the Minister singled out the opportunities for deepening cooperation, especially in the fields of digitalization, cyber security, and e-government.
Vahagn Khachaturyan emphasized that at present the Ministry is carrying out works in the direction of digitalization standards and methodology, which will be applicable for the whole Republic in the future. The Minister also referred to the approaches aimed at having competitive personnel, the works aimed at technological education co-financed by the state, and promoting the activities of startups.
Nicolaas Schermers thanked for the reception, congratulated the Minister on assuming the new post, wished him success. The Ambassador emphasized the special attitude and approaches that his country has towards Armenia, and the readiness to deepen the cooperation in the sphere of high technologies. Nicolaas Schermers noted that a number of companies are already interested in Armenia's IT sector and want to work with Armenian companies. The Ambassador stressed that Armenia can become an excellent place to implement joint programs and make investments in this sphere.
During the meeting, the prospects of expanding cooperation in the above-mentioned directions were discussed. The parties stressed the readiness to develop cooperation.
