On September 7, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received the Ambassador of Japan to Armenia Masanori Fukushima.
During the meeting, the sides commended the close friendly relations established between the two peoples and the countries, expressing readiness to undertake efforts towards strengthening and further developing them.
In this context, Minister Mirzoyan underlined that Armenia attaches great importance to the expansion of cooperation with Japan, proceeding from the agenda of peace and strengthening of democratic institutions of the Japanese side. In his turn, Ambassador Fukushima stressed that Armenia is a potential partner for Japan in building a free and open world order based on the rule of law.
Minister Mirzoyan and Ambassador Fukushima highlighted the spheres of trade and economy, information technologies, cultural and youth exchanges as prospective directions for the development of cooperation.
Touching upon the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Minister Mirzoyan appreciated Japan's continued support for a comprehensive and peaceful settlement within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship. Ambassador Fukushima noted that the Japanese government has provided assistance to the victims of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and is ready to make such assistance continuous.
