On September 7, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia Abbas Badakhshan Zohuri, the information system of the Mother See informs.
Welcoming the Ambassador’s visit to the Mother See, His Holiness conveyed his blessings and best wishes.
The Catholicos of All Armenians thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for its constant support to Armenia during the pandemic and the difficult post-war period.
His Holiness highlighted the centuries-old friendly ties between the two peoples, expressing hope that in the future it will deepen and grow closer.
In his turn, Ambassador Abbas Badakhshan Zohuri, referring to the regional situation, stressed the need for a peaceful settlement of conflicts. The ambassador also mentioned that it is very important for Iran to have a strong, economically developed country in the face of Armenia.
During the meeting, the interlocutors also touched upon the current relations of cooperation between the Mother See and the Islamic Republic of Iran, highlighting the cooperation in the field of culture, religious dialogue, and the organization of interfaith conferences.
