Due to its active support to Azerbaijan in the Karabakh war, Germany has decided to impose sanctions on Turkey. As a result of the decision, the German side refused to sell Fırtına self-propelled howitzer engines to Turkey, Ermenihaber writes.
According to Turkish media reports, the German move forced Ankara to replace the engines of Fırtına self-propelled howitzers with locally made electric motors.
The Turkish side claims that in this way it was able to eliminate external dependence on the production of howitzers.
