The ‘Sidewalk Etiquette of a Smiling City’ brings smiles to life in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) after the wounds of the war. It hints that regardless of the mood, it is not good to argue in the street, jokingly, in dialect, hints at the norms of politeness.
“I have noticed that mothers often shout at their children in the street, and passers-by do not like to see all that. One of the signs is about that,” says Anna Baghdasaryan, Beneficiary of Awesome Artsakh Foundation.
The initiative to bring a smile to Stepanakert was implemented with the help of the Awesome Artsakh Foundation. Founded in 2009 in the United States, the Awesome Foundation now funds exciting, unique, original, colorful programs in more than 90 countries around the world, three years - in Artsakh.
“It was quite difficult to register Artsakh, there was an issue of belonging, but due to consistent and persistent work, a separate union of Awesome Artsakh succeeded,” says Anush Edigaryan, Dean of Trustees of the Awesome Artsakh Foundation.
Grants are provided every two months with a limit of $ 1,000. There is no age limit for applicants; there is a condition to breathe new life into interesting, creative ideas and initiatives in Artsakh.
“We, as an Artsakh union, strongly encourage the youth not only to increase their initiative, but we also see a lack of it,” says Anush Edigaryan.
Feeling the lack of colors in the heart of Artsakh, Natella hung umbrellas with Awesome Artsakh in 2020. Now in Stepanakert the umbrellas that witnessed the war and survived are still hanging.
“The response was quite large, we were able to succeed, different guests were photographed,” says Natella Danielyan, Beneficiary of Awesome Artsakh Foundation.
At the end of the day in Awesome Artsakh the last applications will be summarized and the applications will be studied. It may be an exception to announce a special grant for the new school year in September.
The recent winning program is implemented by a schoolchild in Nor Shen village. The student made the school bell electronic so that the voices calling to the school would never be silenced.
