Ahead of the 18th Francophonie Summit, the second meeting of the Réseau Francophone des Ministres en charge de l'Économie Numérique (RFMEN) took place on September 3 in Cotonou, Benin. Armenia’s Minister of High-Tech Industry Vahagn Khachaturyan participated in it online.
The establishment of a ministerial network for French-speaking countries in the field of digital economy was officially announced on October 10, 2018, during the 17th Francophonie Summit in Yerevan.
The main mission of the network is to promote the joint efforts for the growth of digital economy indicators in the French-speaking area.
The key topic of the meeting was the cooperation between the French-speaking countries in the field of digitalization and the discovery of current topics, which will be presented to the heads of countries of the member states of the forthcoming Francophonie Summit.
The Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie, the Chairman of the Ministerial Network for the French-speaking Countries of the Digital Economy, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Benin, and the heads of the digital departments of the International Organization of La Francophonie member states made speeches during the meeting.
Reference was made to the flexible gauge of the activities of the Ministerial Network, as well as issues related to the Francophonie strategy in 2022-2026.
The latter will be submitted to the leaders of the member states for consideration during the 18th Francophonie Summit to be held in Cerba, Tunisia.
