Deputy President of the European Commission, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell sent a congratulatory message to Ararat Mirzoyan on his appointment as Armenia’s Foreign Minister. The message reads:
"Your Excellency,
I’d like to congratulate you on your appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.
Armenia is an important partner for the European Union.
Our relations have significantly intensified since 2018. The Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement from March 1, 2021 became another crucial and positive stage when it came into effect.
The implementation of this agreement is crucial for our bilateral relations, and we are ready to continue cooperation in the fields of mutual interest, including the strengthening of democracy, the rule of law and human rights, job and business opportunities, in improving the environment, education and scientific research.
Your appointment came at a decisive time for Armenia.
After the last year's military actions, I want to confirm the EU's readiness to contribute to a long-term and comprehensive regulation, including via the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, by supporting measures for post-conflict reconstruction and creating an atmosphere of trust, whenever is possible.
In this context, we keep supporting the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group.
In addition, we are also ready to assist in border delimitation.
While taking into account that all our countries still fight the COVID-19 epidemic, let me emphasize that the European Union is committed to help Armenia to deal with this public health crisis and overcome its consequences.
I wish you success in your new, important position."
