With the support of Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, “Tradition and Relevance” educational-cultural public organization will implement Armenian silverware exhibition in cultural center of Iranian embassy in Armenia on August 30, 6 PM.
Three silver belts duplicated from beautiful ornaments of plant, geometric, human images of Saint Tadeos Apostle Monastery in Iranian Islamic Republic, one of the biggest Armenian spiritual centers will be displayed.
Silversmithing has its unique place in the treasury of the non-material Armenian cultural heritage. The silver belts decorated the typical costumes of different areas of Armenian highlands and are the most important source for the study of decorative art. Both in terms of preparation and decoration each belt is unique and perfect.
It should be mentioned that the joint application of the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran "Pilgrimage to the Monastery of St. Tadeos" was registered in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity as a typical combination of material and non-material cultural heritage.
The forthcoming exhibition is the culmination of the ministry's competition grant program entitled "Silver Dance".
This program is aimed not only at promoting preservation and viability of the Armenian silver art as a non-material cultural heritage, but also at promoting UNESCO-registered cultural year for popularization and Armenian-Iranian cultural cooperation. The exhibition entrance is free.
