On August 23-25, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Republic of Iraq Hrachya Poladyan held meetings in Iraqi Kurdistan on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission in Iraq.
The Armenian Ambassador met with the Vice President of Kurdistan Region Mostafa Said Qadir, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region Qubad Talabani, Parliament Speaker of Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government Revaz Faik, the Head of External Relations of the Kurdistan Regional Government - Minister Safin Desai, as well as with representatives of the Armenian communities from Erbil, Duhok, Zakho and Mosul․
The officials highly valued the efforts of the Ambassador Poladyan in the deepening of relations between Armenia and Iraqi Kurdistan and wished success to his further diplomatic mission.
During the meetings, the sides also discussed the prospects for the development of relations between Armenia and Iraqi Kurdistan in various fields.
They mentioned the opening of the Consulate General of Armenia in Erbil this February as an important signal for the deepening of political and economic ties between the two peoples.
The opening of the Armenian cultural center in the ancient fortress of Erbil was also emphasized.
Ambassador H. Poladyan thanked the authorities of Iraqi Kurdistan for their friendly attitude to the Armenian community.
Regional developments were also touched upon during the meetings.
During his visit to Duhok, the Armenian Ambassador also visited the holiest temple of Yezidi people - Lalish, where he met the spiritual leader of the Yezidis of the world, Baba Sheikh and the head of the Yezidi community.
The Armenian Ambassador was thanked for his personal efforts to strengthen ties between the Armenian and Yezidi peoples, and wished success for his further missions.
