The Taliban denied the right of the two most influential political figures in Afghanistan – Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation Abdullah Abdullah, and country’s former President Hamid Karzai having their bodyguards. Now they are under house arrest.
This was reported by CNN.
The Taliban confiscated Karzai's cars, disarmed his bodyguards, then the ex-head of the state was moved to Abdullah Abdullah's house, where the search was conducted a day earlier.
As a result, two members of the coordination council, created for the peaceful transfer of power to the Taliban, are left unprotected. Abdullah Abdullah and Hamid Karzai established the coordination council and were holding meetings with the Taliban to form a new government.
