The United States condemns the recent escalation of the international border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The US State Department called on parties to maintain their ceasefire commitments and to take immediate steps to ease the tensions.
“The United States urges to return to substantive negotiations as soon as possible under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs to reach a lasting political settlement to the conflict”
The continuing tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, according to Washington, stresses the fact that only with a comprehensive settlement of all unresolved issues will it be possible to normalize relations between the two countries and allow people in the region to live in peace with each other.
