Angela Merkel will visit Moscow for the last time as German Chancellor, where she will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This will be the first meeting of the two leaders since the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic and Merkel's 20th visit to Russia during her governance period, TASS News Agency reports.
In recent weeks, the German leader has been making "farewell" visits. She already was in the UK, USA and Belgium.
According to media reports, the leaders of Russia and Germany will discuss the development of bilateral cooperation in various fields, as well as a number of actual international and regional problems - the situation in Afghanistan, Ukraine and Belarus. The topic of the "Nord Stream-2" can also be on the agenda.
The German Chancellor has already discussed the situation in Afghanistan with the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi.
Russian analysts called Merkel's visit to Moscow symbolic, since the chancellor will soon leave her post. After Merkel, the post of German Chancellor will be taken by Armin Laschet, who was previously the Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia.
