On August 11, Minister of Economy of Armenia Vahan Kerobyan received the representatives of Lufthansa airline. Alfred Kocharyan, Acting Chairman of the Tourism Committee, also took part in the meeting.
During the meeting the prospects and ways of cooperation with Lufthansa were discussed, the priorities of the sphere of tourism for Armenia were highlighted. Attaching importance to the activation of Armenia-Germany business ties, Kerobyan stated that there are great opportunities and prospects for the development of cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism. Introducing the important tourism markets for Armenia, he stressed the state policy of focusing especially on the quality in that sphere.
In this context, the Minister spoke about the possibility of having tourist flows from Germany to Armenia, and he exchanged views with the representatives of the company on the issues of organizing joint marketing campaigns between the two countries to activate those flows.
The representatives of Lufthansa, in their turn, noted that Armenia is a preferred tourist destination for German tourists, therefore, they are interested in using the opportunity to bring tourist flows to Armenia, and they are ready to cooperate in organizing and implementing marketing campaigns.
During the meeting, the issue of establishing a Lufthansa hub in Gyumri was discussed, as well as the possibility of operating flights from Gyumri airport by Lufthansa airlines. Kocharyan added that the German market is very interesting for Armenia, too. A study tour with the participation of more than 60 German tourism companies is planned in Armenia at the end of August, which is a good opportunity to present the tourism potential of the two countries and find new ways of cooperation.
