Further deepening of the atmosphere of enmity and hostility in our region is inadmissible, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan announced at the Government session. According to him, it is a threat not only to the whole region, but also to international security.
“We saw the manifestations of the deepening of the atmosphere of hostility with the example of the, so-called, ‘trophy park’ opened in Baku, which, I think, is an insult to our region and to regional civilization. I emphasize this to show how urgent it is to manage this issue.
Overcoming hostility can and should be one of the key components of our regional foreign policy agenda. Armenia is convinced that the establishment and development of normal relations with neighboring countries are key to long-term peace, stability, security and economic development in the region,” Pashinyan said.
According to the Prime Minister, the deepening or normalization of relations with neighboring countries will be one of the important directions of the Government’s foreign policy.
“Unfortunately, some forces are trying to present Armenia’s intentions in the wrong light, saying that Armenia has made military reforms a priority in the context of pursuing an aggressive policy towards neighboring countries.
Armenia, like any peace-loving state, will develop and innovate the Armed Forces not for aggression but rather to protect itself from possible aggression. We have no intention to conquer territories. Our intention is to protect our sovereignty and territorial integrity. We do not have aggressive intentions, and the regional peace and stability are our long-term strategy.
We are ready to start an active dialogue on this agenda with the support of our international partners, if necessary, also through direct contacts,” Pashinyan said.
