On August 3 Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Armenia and Colonel Bahman Sadeghin, Iranian embassy’s attaché in Armenia, visited Gegharkunik province.
Arayik Harutyunyan, Major General Command of the military unit presented the current situation on Armenia-Azerbaijani border, after which a visit to the boundary section of Verin Shorzha (Upper Shorzha) was organized.
Expressing concern over the sequel disputes between the two countries on borders, Islamic Republic of Iran’s (IRI) ambassador to Armenia underlined the restraint of both sides and the need of a peaceful settlement of disputes between the two countries. He expressed his condolences to the killed soldiers’ families during the recent conflicts.
Clarifying the need to respect the internationally recognized borders for all the sides, Ambassador Zohouri noted that providing long lasting peace in South Caucasus is in the interest of the people in the region and expressed Iran’s willingness to support the establishment of long lasting peace.
