Member of ‘Civil Contract’ faction of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ruben Rubinyan in a conversation with journalists referred to the border situation and Armenia’s position.
Citing Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s speech, Rubinyan said that a proposal was made to consider the presence of Russian border guards or international observers on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in case of a mirror withdrawal on both sides of the border.
“It is clear that Azerbaijan intends to damage the reputation of CSTO. In general, Azerbaijan’s actions are directed against the CSTO, especially the Russian peacekeeping mission in Artsakh. Our position is to use all the tools available to us. Discussions with our CSTO partners also continue,” Rubinyan said.
He stressed that Armenia is in favor of regional stability and peace.
“We do not want to blow up the situation in the region. We offer a way that will lead to de-escalation. The proposal related to the mirror retreat has nothing to do with the borders, it has to do with the deployment of military units,” Rubinyan said.
