Athlete Arthur Davtyan became a bronze medalist of the 32nd Summer Olympic Games, winning the first medal of Armenia in these games.
In the pole vault final, Davtyan scored 14,733 points (first jump - 14,800 points, second - 14,666), recording the third result. South Korean Sin Jehuan (14,783 points) won the title of Olympic champion, and Russian Denis Ablyazin (14,783 points) became the silver medalist.
Thus, 41 years later, Armenia has a prize in gymnastics at the Olympic Games. Eduard Azaryan became a champion at the 1980 Moscow Olympics.
