The growing tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border is of concern to the UN. The statement came from Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, at a briefing on Wednesday, commenting on the border provocations carried out by Azerbaijan on the Gegharkunik border on Wednesday night.
"We are following with great concern the reports on the tense situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, including the recent incident today. Even though UN cannot verify these reports, we urge both sides to exercise restraint, to refrain from any action that could aggravate the situation, and to resolve existing issues through dialogue,” Haq said.
