US State Department adviser Derek Scholle denies the information published in the Politico article about the pressure of the US authorities on the Ukraine on the issue of Nord Stream-2, Korrespondent.net reports.
“Ukraine is a democratic country; it has its own voice. We strive for a close and constructive partnership with our Ukrainian friends. One in which we would defend our common interests and values,” Scholle said.
At the same time, regarding the article by The Wall Street Journal that the United States and Germany agreed on a list of measures to support the Ukraine, Scholle said that he could not speak about specifics.
“We really discussed with our German colleagues the issues of the Ukraine’s energy security. Real and great practical assistance to the Ukraine is important. I can't talk about specifics yet. But it will be significant support for its energy sector, which would guarantee energy security, efficiency and independence,” he added.
Earlier, the WSJ announced that the United States and Germany are ready to announce a deal on Nord Stream-2. The results of negotiations between the United States and Germany on the Russian gas pipeline will be announced on July 21, journalists say.
