On July 20, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is on a two-day visit to the occupied Northern Cyprus, touched upon the possible recognition of the so-called Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus by Azerbaijan.
A journalist asked Erdogan whether “after the Second Artsakh war there are expectations that Azerbaijan will recognize Northern Cyprus, whether the visit of the Azerbaijani delegation to Northern Cyprus for the first time has raised those expectations.”
Erdogan replied that there was nothing to doubt about that. “We regularly discuss all this with my brother Ilham Aliyev. God willing, these reciprocal visits will be continuous and will continue at a high level,” he said.
