The daughter of the Afghan ambassador to Islamabad has reportedly been kidnapped and tortured in Pakistan, which has caused tensions in the diplomatic relations between the two countries, RIA Novosti reports.
Kabul recalled its ambassador to Pakistan and other embassy staff, and the Taliban strongly condemned the kidnapping of the ambassador’s daughter, and demanded that Islamabad find and punish the kidnapers.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry has expressed regret over Afghanistan’s decision to extradite the ambassador, hoping the decision will be reconsidered. The ministry also assured that “rumors about the kidnapping of the ambassador’s daughter are being investigated in Islamabad, and the issue is being monitored at the highest level on the instructions of the prime minister.”
