Georgian police have arrested a man accused of selling drugs to TV Pirveli cameraman Alexander “Lekso” Lashkarava, Interfax reports.
A statement posted on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia states that the arrested man is always involved in the illegal sale of drugs and on July 10, he himself sold heroin to the cameraman.
Lashkarava was beaten by LGBT opponents on July 5, and five days after being discharged from the hospital on July 11, the cameraman was found dead in his home. The next day, the Georgian Interior Ministry announced that the cause of his death was a drug overdose, which led to a new protest by opposition supporters in Tbilisi. They considered the data of the investigation of the death case as slander.
At the same time, law enforcement officers summoned the clergyman who called for violence. This was reported by aliq.ge. During a homophobic rally in Tbilisi on July 5, Father Spiridon, speaking in front of a crowd, literally said, “You must use violence in the name of your Homeland; you must use violence in the name of the country.” The crowd applauded his speech. On the same day, more than 50 journalists were injured in the violence of the aggressive groups.
It is known that the Patriarchate only reprimanded the high priest, and he published a video in which he apologizes.
