The United States was ready to resume talks on Iran’s nuclear program in Vienna, but Tehran has requested a delay until the country’s new president takes office in August. This was reported on Wednesday by Reuters with reference to an official representative of the State Department, Trend reports with reference to TASS.
“We were ready to continue negotiations, but the Iranians asked for more time to sort out the process of inauguration of the new president,” she said. “When Iran completes this process, we are ready to plan a return to Vienna to continue negotiations,” explained the US Foreign Ministry official.
“We remain interested in looking for ways to return to compliance with the JCPOA, however <...> this offer will not remain in effect indefinitely,” she added.
