The Taliban said they would not allow the use of the territory of Afghanistan for actions directed against Russia and neighboring countries, TASS reports.
"We arrived [in Moscow] to discuss the current situation in Afghanistan with the Russian side, and also to assure that we will not allow anyone to use Afghan soil to attack Russia or neighboring countries,” Mohammed Suhail Shaheen movement official representative stated.
He also explained that one of the important purposes of their visit is to discuss the situation in northern Afghanistan.
According to him, the delegation managed to exchange views with the Russian side and discuss the possibilities for an early peaceful settlement of the conflict.
According to him, the Taliban movement does not intend to attack the diplomatic missions of foreign states in Afghanistan and confirms the safety of the employees of the Russian Consulate General in Mazar-i-Sharif.
Earlier, the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Afghanistan, director of the Second Asian Department of the Foreign Ministry Zamir Kabulov told TASS that the Russian Consulate General in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif had temporarily stopped work due to the aggravation of the situation in northern Afghanistan.
