In an interview with the Greek newspaper Kathimerini, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke about his meeting with Turkey during a meeting with Recep Tayyip Erdogan at NATO summit, Ermenihaber reports.
Mitzotakis expressed hope that after that meeting, the summer of 2021 will be calmer than the summer of 2020 in terms of bilateral relations. At the same time, he noted that the causes of the problems with Turkey were not overcome during the meeting.
“We said that we are in favor of good relations with Turkey, it is in the interests of both countries. But if Turkey chooses to escalate the situation, it will get the answer, it will have its consequences. Greece will not allow the issue of migrants to become a weapon (by Turkey), and the events of March 2020 be repeated,” he said.
