France has welcomed Azerbaijan’s release of 15 Armenian detainees, Armenia’s transmission of minefield maps to Azerbaijan.
“After the one on 11 June, this exchange constitutes an important new gesture to reduce tensions on the ground and help restore confidence between the Parties,” the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
France calls for the implementation of the commitments made by the parties on November 9, 2020, including the reestablishment of a substantial dialogue and the release of all Armenian prisoners still held.
“With its partners within the co-chairmanship of the Minsk group, France calls for the continuation of this positive dynamic and remains committed alongside the Parties to build lasting peace in the Caucasus,” the Ministry said.
