In the United States, the correspondent of ‘Lurer’ reports details about the adoption of a document in support of Artsakh’s independence in New Jersey yesterday.
The Senate approved Bill No. 71, introduced by lawmaker Joseph Lagana, which recognizes the Armenian Genocide, at the same time emphasizing the attacks on the Artsakh Republic (Nagorno-Karabakh) and supporting the independence of the second Armenian Republic. Detailing the topic of the Armenian Genocide in the introductory part, the decision of the Senate determines that Turkey continues to pursue an aggressive policy against the Armenian citizens of the Artsakh Republic. Describing Artsakh as an Armenian cradle for millennia, the document states:
“The Republic of Artsakh has gained independence from Azerbaijan legally, resisting aggression for years. Artsakh held democratic elections, which the observers assessed as free and fair.”
The senators confirmed that last year Turkey and Azerbaijan carried out an illegal attack on Artsakh, occupied territories, destroyed cultural monuments, and aimed to deport native Armenians from Artsakh.
“The New Jersey Legislature condemns Azerbaijan’s attacks on civilians in the Republic of Artsakh, recognizes the sovereignty and independence of the Artsakh Republic, and urges the President and Congress of the United States to do the same,” the Senate statement said. It received 36 votes, approved unanimously.
