The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced a reduction in the number of coronavirus cases worldwide. However, WHO warned that the threat of the spread of the Indian strain remains in the Western countries that overcame COVID-19, RIA Novosti reports.
On June 24, Andrea Ammon, head of the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention, predicted that the highly aggressive Indian strain of coronavirus would spread rapidly to all European countries. The doctor noted that by August 2021, 90% of COVID-19 cases in Europe will be the ‘delta’ version of the virus. More than 35,000 people in the UK have been infected with the coronavirus in the past week.
Delta (Indian strain) is also spreading rapidly in Turkey. The number of 138 cases of this strain has reached 224, 134 of which are in Istanbul.
The cases of the Indian strain has increased in neighboring Georgia - from three to seven.
