OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde, spoke about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and OSCE’s efforts for the conflict settlement. In response to the question that Armenia is disappointed with OSCE and that OSCE did nothing during the Second Artsakh war, she particularly said:
“In order to resolve conflicts, it is necessary to create an environment that alleviates pain and has a solid foundation for reconciliation. Dialogue is needed to bring peace to regions. I do not agree that OSCE does not make efforts for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
I have a special representative who works very actively. I met with him yesterday to discuss the situation. There is also the Minsk Group Co-Chairs, co-chaired by Russia, France and the United States, which last year had limited access to the region also due to the coronavirus.
The return of 15 prisoners was important, as was the transfer of maps of the minefields. I also appreciate Georgia’s efforts in this regard. These were confidence-building measures. I urge Armenia and Azerbaijan to strengthen their confidence releasing all prisoners of war and under the auspices of OSCE, through my personal representative Andrzej Kasprzyk to find a political solution, as there is no peace agreement yet.”
