Belarus suspends membership of European Union Eastern Partnership. A statement from the country’s Foreign Ministry said that Minsk was beginning to implement the procedures for terminating the readmission agreement with EU. “Under the EU sanctions and restrictions, Belarus will not be able to meet its obligations under the treaty,” the statement said.
Minutes after Belarus’ announcement, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev announced that he would visit Belarus tomorrow to hold Russian-Belarusian security consultations.
