EU leaders reaffirmed the European aspirations of the Eastern Partnership countries. This is stated in a statement published after the meeting of the EU Council in Brussels.
It says that European leaders understand and recognize the need to deepen relations with the EU’s Eastern partners, both politically and economically. The Council reiterates the 2017 Eastern Partnership Summit Declaration, which recognizes the European aspirations of the Eastern Partners and the European choice enshrined in the Association Agreements.
“The EU stresses the need to further strengthen political, economic and interpersonal ties and cooperation, which will be aimed at strengthening their sustainability. The Council reaffirms the Declaration of the 2017 Eastern Partnership Summit, which recognizes the European aspirations and the European choice of the Eastern Partners as set out in the Association Agreements and in the context of their implementation. The Council also stresses the need to deepen relations with Central Asia,” the statement reads.
