UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi will arrive in Moscow on June 28 to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharova stated during a press conference.
During the meeting, the parties will discuss a wide range of issues, including international protection of refugees, internally displaced persons and stateless persons. According to Zakharova, “it is planned to involve the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the process of ensuring the return of refugees and internally displaced persons in Nagorno-Karabakh and neighboring areas, to focus the international community’s attention on the repatriation of Syrians, as well as assistance to refugees and internally displaced persons from Donbas.”
This is the second visit of UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi to Moscow, which, according to Zakharova, will contribute to the further development of multilateral cooperation and cooperation with the UN Office.
