Armenia has expressed a desire to purchase Sputnik V vaccine from Russia, but there is a production problem there, Gayane Sahakyan, deputy director of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention and head of National Immunization Program stated this at today's press conference.
“That was the reason why our second batch, 60,000 doses, that is, for 30,000 people, was quite late. It was planned to arrive in the country earlier. We are still negotiating with Russia,” Sahakyan said.
Sahakyan spoke about the possible supply of other vaccines. For example, COVAX has offered new vaccines.
“We continue to work with COVAX. In addition, new batches of AstraZeneca may be available in the near future. Our policy is to have as many different types of vaccines in the country as possible, so that every citizen can choose the vaccine of they prefer and we will not be limited only to risk groups,” Sahakyan said.
