Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili met with Pope Francis on June 18. She told the Italian newspaper that she had talked to His Holiness about regional challenges and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
“Georgia, according to tradition, was able to mediate between the two countries for the first time in modern history. We hope that the situation will improve, especially after the elections in Armenia,” she said.
